TOURISM INFORMATION OFFICE OPENED
While the restoration of historical houses continues on one side of Ankara Castle, the excitement of the region becoming an important tourism asset for the capital is palpable.
To ensure that both local and foreign tourists visiting the Castle can easily access accurate information, a tourism information office has been opened.
The Directorate of Cultural and Natural Assets is giving the region a new identity without compromising the texture of the houses in Ankara Castle and without relocating the residents.
The first and second phases of the work in the area known as “İçkale” in Ankara Castle have been completed. A total of 160 buildings, with 70 of them registered and 90 unregistered, have been restored. In the first phase, restoration work was meticulously carried out on 87 buildings, and in the second phase, 73 buildings underwent restoration.
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is currently in the planning stage for the third phase of the project.
