Konya Metropolitan Municipality of Turkey performed its first sema program abroad in Croatia in the Year of Mevlana, hosted by the Embassy of Konya Metropolitan Municipality in Zagreb.
KONYA (IGFA) – Konya Metropolitan Municipality performed Sema Ayin-i Şerif in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, within the scope of the events of the 750th anniversary of the vuslat of Hazrat Mevlana.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality, which prepares events at home and abroad within the scope of the 750th anniversary of the Vuslat, made its first stop abroad in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The Sema Ayin-i Şerifi, hosted by the Embassy of Turkey in Zagreb, deeply impressed the foreign participants and gave everyone in the program an intense spiritual atmosphere.
The program was attended by former Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Mateşa, Deputy Ministers, Parliamentary Commission Chairmen, MPs, Governors, Mayors, Ambassadors, Croatian senior bureaucrats, well-known names from the business, sports and art world.

Speaking at the program held at the Zagreb Music Academy, Yavuz Selim Kıran, Ambassador of Turkey to Zagreb, said:
“This year marks the 750th anniversary of the death of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, one of the spiritual architects of our Anatolia, a great mystic, thinker and Islamic scholar, who inspired all humanity for centuries with his ideas based on humanity and peace. In fact, in his words, it is the anniversary of Vuslat, the greatest of all loves, his reunion with his Creator. For this reason, 2023 was accepted as the Year of Mevlana by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In addition, the Year of Mevlana was included in the calendar by UNESCO. In this context, Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are organizing many activities. I am very happy to say that we are organizing the first of these events abroad here in Zagreb this evening. I would like to express my gratitude to our President Mr. Uğur İbrahim Altay for providing us with this opportunity and privilege. I am sure that you all know Mr. President closely with his valuable services. He has been demonstrating one of the most successful examples of Mr. President’s understanding of municipalism in Konya for years. He serves the people of Konya with an exemplary municipal approach not only in Turkey but also in the world.”
