Huawei held its 16th User Group Meeting in Istanbul with the theme of ‘Listening, Collaborating, Improving, and Developing’. At the event, Huawei shared its achievements in addressing the most pressing challenges of 2023 with more than 400 mobile operator executives and industry representatives from around the world.
The meeting reinforced Huawei’s leadership in the global telecommunications industry and provided an important platform for in-depth knowledge exchange and collaboration opportunities among participants. Huawei also shared the latest developments in the industry and its strategic plans for the future.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, and Li Peng, Huawei Corporate Senior Vice President and Head of ICT Sales and Service Unit, delivered opening speeches.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan emphasized the importance of information and communication technologies for sustainable growth and development, and spoke about Huawei’s contributions to Turkey’s technology infrastructure. Sayan stated that Huawei has been working with Turkey for 22 years and has taken important steps in communication technologies from 2G to 4.5G. “We see that Huawei has made significant contributions to the R&D ecosystem of our country by offering innovative products and services, contributing to the training of local talents, and making local investments within the framework of its ‘In Turkey, for Turkey’ strategy,” Sayan said, adding that Huawei’s cooperation with Turkey is not limited to technological progress, but the company has also made significant contributions to the development of the industry ecosystem, the training of young talents, and the development of network technologies.

Li Peng said that thanks to the Huawei User Group meetings held for the last 15 years, they have identified more than 80 areas that need improvement, and together with their customers, they have made significant progress in network quality and user experience. “The most pressing issues discussed at last year’s conference included 4G and 5G user experience, enhancing 5G service experience, FTTR planning, construction, verification, and maintenance capabilities, and IPv6+ O&M. Over the past year, Huawei has worked with customers to drive success in these areas and achieved significant results.”
New Opportunities in the 5.5G Era
Yang Chaobin, Huawei Board Member and President of ICT Products and Solutions, also delivered a speech titled ‘New Opportunities in the 5.5G Era’. Yang Chaobin said that 5.5G provides operators with much stronger connectivity support to help them improve their services. Stating that operators’ service boundaries will expand with the support of new capabilities such as passive IoT and local intelligence, Chaobin said, “5.5G and artificial intelligence will drive innovation and create new opportunities for industries. Huawei will work with partners to continue to innovate in 5.5G, F5.5G, and Net5.5G products and solutions, and diversify services and application scenarios.”
At the conference, leading mobile operators such as Turkcell, Türk Telekom, Vodafone and Zain shared their best practices in achieving success through quality. IDC also gave a presentation titled Leading Trends and Technologies in the Age of Intelligence.
