The Israeli-Palestinian war is on the agenda of the whole world. Emrah Yılmaz Çavuşoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Camelot Maritime, said, “With the Israeli-Palestinian war, some cruise ships have canceled their stops in Israel’s Haifa and Ashdod ports. The ships that have decided to cancel their calls are directing their route to Egypt and Cyprus, especially Turkey. Although this situation looks like an advantage in the short term, we need to look at the big picture.”
The clashes between Israel and Palestine in early October, which were closely followed by the whole world, caused cruise ships to reconstruct their routes. Some of the ships trying to get away from Israel due to the insecure environment created by the war have turned their route to Turkey. Some operators, which are among the world cruise giants, have decided to cancel sailings to Israeli ports, especially Ashdod Port, in the coming periods.

Emrah Yılmaz Çavuşoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Camelot Maritime, the first company in Turkey to operate a foreign-owned cruise ship, said: “We are following the war between Israel and Palestine with regret and great attention. War is a crime against humanity no matter what. There is no winner in war. We wish peace to come as soon as possible on behalf of humanity. Due to the war, some cruise ships are canceling their calls to Haifa and Ashhdod ports in Israel. The ships that have decided to cancel their calls are directing their route to Egypt and Cyprus, especially Turkey.”
”We can be the cruise base of the region!”
Stating that Turkey is located in a very important location in terms of geographical location and tourism destination, Çavuşoğlu gave the following information:
“If there is a fire in the neighborhood, it will inevitably affect you. We do not take advantage of the Israeli-Palestinian war or the Russian-Ukrainian tension. On the contrary, as a country, we are trying to be a mediator on the road to peace in our neighbors. Because we are a country with the philosophy of ‘Peace at Home, Peace in the World! We are a candidate to be the base of the region with our safe ports, technical infrastructure and service quality. With investments in the maritime sector, we can play a leading role in the region.
