Intense Diplomatic Activity at G20 Summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan conducted a series of intensive diplomatic meetings during the 2023 G20 Leaders’ Summit hosted by India, focusing on the country and regional developments.

ANKARA (İGFA) – President Erdoğan engaged in a flurry of diplomatic activities during the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

According to a statement from the Presidency of Communication, President Erdoğan’s first contact during the summit held in New Delhi on September 9-10 was with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

President Erdoğan received Kishida Fumio at his hotel and had a conversation with him. He also had a chat with the host of the summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Bharat Mandapam International Fair and Congress Center.

On the first day of the summit, President Erdoğan attended two sessions and met with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, and Yoon Suk Yeol, President of South Korea. He also received Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, and Ajay Banga, the President of the World Bank.

On the first day, President Erdoğan also met with the heads of state of MIKTA member countries, a transcontinental informal consultation and coordination platform consisting of Turkey, Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Australia.

President Erdoğan attended the MIKTA meeting with Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia, Joko Widodo, the President of Indonesia, Yoon Suk Yeol, the President of South Korea, and Raquel Buenrostro, the Minister of Economy of Mexico.

On the second day of the summit, President Erdoğan visited the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial after meeting with the leaders of G20 countries. He also participated in the “closing session” and the “handover ceremony of the presidency term” at the summit.

On the second day, President Erdoğan met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, who was invited to the summit. He also received Charles Michel, the President of the European Council. President Erdoğan concluded his summit contacts with the reception of Indian Prime Minister Modi.
