UEFA showed Austria as a quarter-finalist on its official website. This incorrect information on UEFA’s website drew reaction. The Communication Directorate’s Centre for Combating Disinformation made a post and said, “The quarter-final match between Turkey and the Netherlands will be played on 6 July 2024 at 22:00”.
In the statement made by the Directorate of Communication; “The claim published on the official website of UEFA that “Austria reached the quarter-finals of the European Championship” is not true. In the 2024 European Championship last 16 round match played on Tuesday 2 July 2024, Turkey defeated Austria 2-1 and qualified for the quarter-finals. The quarter-final match between Turkey and the Netherlands will be played on 6 July 2024 at 22:00.”
